Barbara Jane Bj Dempsey

Barbara Jane "BJ" Dempsey, age 36, of Rome, GA, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018, in a local hospital.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, BJ was born on March 22, 1981, daughter of Leah Anita "Lucy" Dempsey and the late Dallas Marshall Dempsey. She was a 1999 graduate of Model High School and prior to her disability, was associated with Pirelli Tire of Rome. BJ loved spending time with her daughter, Madi, taking shopping, getting pedicures and just doing girlie stuff. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Barbara Adair McGehee and Martha Jane Dempsey, and her grandfather, Dallas W. Dempsey.

BJ is survived by her husband, Steve Smith; daughter, Madi Smith; mother, Leah "Lucy" Dempsey brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Sherry Dempsey; nephew, Keith Dempsey and his wife, Sara; niece, Heather Bennett and her husband, Trentidy; great-nephew, Kaden; great-nieces, Kylie and Brooklyn. Special aunts and cousins and other relative and friends also survive.

Funeral services for BJ will be on Friday afternoon, January 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Morning View Cemetery.

BJs family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Thursday evening, January 18, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
