Mrs. Barbara Cathcart Eades Gheesling, age 81, of Appling, Georgia, beloved wife of Mr. Alton Gheesling, died Friday, July 12, 2013, in Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Mrs. Eades-Gheesling was a native of Fulton County, but had lived in Appling for many years. She was retired from the New Life Christian Book Stores as President, She was a member of the Thomson Second Baptist Church, where she taught the Marion Allen Sunday School Class, was a choir member, a member of the WMU and the Merry Widows Group.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Alton Gheesling, Appling; her daughter, Marcia Kay Eades of Rome, GA.; her sons, Samuel Madison Eades, Appling and Mark Jackson Eades, Waycross; her sister, Iris Pierce, Conyers; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Thomson Second Baptist Church, Thomson, GA. with Rev. John Richards officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday night at the Curtis Funeral Home in Thomson, GA. (706-595-3695)
