Alton Green Ferguson

Alton G. "Al" Ferguson, age 84, of Rome passed away on Thursday morning, January 26th, 2012 at the residence.

A native of Fulton County, GA., Mr. Ferguson was born on October 3rd, 1925, the sone of the late Green Alexander Ferguson and the late Georgia Tanner Ferguson. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement he was associated with the Rome Housing Authority. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Terrell Ferguson in 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Ferguson; 2 daughters, Kim Adams and Sheryl Ferguson; 3 sons, Larry, David and John Ferguson; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Heard and Katherine Margete ' Katie' Milsap. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Ferguson will be held this (Monday) evening, January 30th, 2012 at 7 o'clock in the Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dowdy and the Rev. Donald Lindsey officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 7 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
